Human Terrarium Project

\ˈhyü-mən \tə-ˈrer-ē-əm \ˈprä-ˌjek

Welcome to the Human Terrarium Project. A social experiment for the observation of everyday thoughts, interactions and musings. A terrarium is usually "an enclosed area for people to observe and perform research on plants and animals". Here we are examining a collection of volunteers from around the world with different backgrounds, lifestyles and environments who have all agreed to live in public by sharing snippets from their lives. "People Watching" as it is commonly referred to is both an exercise in humanity and self reflection.

Want to be a contributor? Live an interesting life or a shockingly boring one and are willing to share the details? Well then you're in luck, The Human Terrarium Project is currently seeking additional contributors. Contact us and tell us why you're HT material.

Great Social Card Exchange Experiment

November 14th, 2009 by mleeb

In an effort to stimulate the economy, to see the look on the post office employee’s face or purely as a social experiment I will be exchanging x-mas cards this year. Through a recent frugal purchase online I have come into possession of a hefty 225 cards itching to be licked sealed and delivered (perhaps with a sponge after the first dozen or so). They’re not fancy, they don’t have heart felt hallmark messages and they’re of the quality you’d expect from a long lost distant relative (looking to borrow money).

Hey, it’s the thought that counts! (and I’m looking to do it 225 times) Now, no matter how long or short I’ve known you chances are I don’t have your address, in fact it’s almost a guarantee, despite what some may claim of my stalker-like computer skills.

Simply send me your mailing address, your friends mailing address or even that of the cute girl you’ve been meaning to introduce me to (225 is a lot of people!) and share in this great social experiment.

We work hard, we’re on FIRE!

December 18th, 2008 by ire

So I have my office door closed and I hear my boss yelling, he opens my door and tells me to hang up the fucking phone and get out of the builing. Some fuckstick repairman set the roof on fire. Wow, good thing he called the fire department. It would have been nice if he had actually come into our office and told us so we could get out…  Inside some random dude driving by stops, comes inside and says “hey, you know your roof is on fire?”. At least we know they are super responsive in Santa Clara. They had 5 fire engines, a paramedic, and then even a traffic cop blocked the road from the public. Well done guy, thanks.

And the Zoo York started playing

Why does this remind me of Requiem for a Dream? They did this in the middle of the road.
